I am writing to provide you a letter of recommendation to your prospective clients about using Executive Benefit Design and Northwestern Mutual products to support any application where corporate owned life insurance (COLI) might have application.
Your work in designing and implementing the COLI program for Butler Manufacturing Company’s SERP was outstanding. The most important element was that the design fit our requirements and perhaps as important, has passed the test of an actual transaction. As you know, we were acquired in 2004 and our plan was terminated and the COLI distributed to all SERP plan participants. It worked as designed and without any issues, something few plans experience.
Clearly, products from Northwestern Mutual are outstanding and this was key to the decision at Butler, we wanted a firm that was solid and conservatively managed and a product that fit the need, you met both criteria.
Given the financial meltdowns that we have seen over the past few months in the debt markets it is indeed comforting to know that we chose a solid company and professional to help us develop the financing product for our SERP plan.
